The Community Center offers a great deal of
services and information to Idaho's LGBTA community and there is so much
more that can be done to help make the center for everyone. But to do
this work and to keep our doors open we need volunteers, members, and
gracious donors. Without you we simply cannot exist...we are your
Community Center!
What ever help and assistance you can give goes a long way. Here is
just some of what your hours and money help to maintain:
- A safe place for LGBT people to go when they need help, advice or
are new to the Treasure Valley.
- Provide information for LGBT people considering relocation to
Idaho.
- A safe place for LGBT organizations to meet and socialize
- Provide information and support to employers and organizations
desiring to encourage diversity
- Work to provide accurate information to the legislature and other
branches of government
- Encourage citizens to vote and become involved at all levels of
community life
- A regularly updated referral directory for medical, legal, and
life issues assistance
- The continued printing of Diversity...one of the oldest LGBT
newspapers in the Western U.S. and possibly the country!
- Office space to help bring LGBTA organizations together
- The largest LGBT lending library in the State of Idaho used for
learning and research
- The most complete archive of LGBT events and materials in the
State of Idaho. This is kept safe at the Albertson Library Archives
at Boise State University and is also used for learning and research.
- Youth Alliance for Diversity social group for young people.
- Help create and produce the Idaho LGBT Scholarship Directory and
scholarship
- Tri-States Transgender Social and Help group
- Metropolitan Community Church Services
- Boise Women's Group for socializing and fun
- Special activities at the center including Oscar Night, Latte
nights, Card Night, and White Elephant Auction.
With all these activities
for volunteering and participation in your community the center has
something for everyone.
